Abstract
In order to evaluate the behaviour of the AGID and the ELISA tests, for the diagnosis of caprine paratuberculosis, 5 serum sampling were performed on 3 naturally infected caprine herds. In both serological tests the PPA-3 antigen was employed. The AGID test detected goats with and without clinical signs. Beside, the ELISA seemed to require lower concentration of antibodies to trigger a positive result. Significative differences (P<0.01) were observed in the prevalences estimated by the AGID and ELISA tests along the 5 serum sampling. The AGID test shows as an useful serological test able to detect clinical such as subclinical Map infected goats. The behaviour of both tests were mostly the same and seemed not to be affected by the different paratuberculosis prevalences estimated on each flock.
